Four Generations of Growing
The Wuthrich family has been growing plants in Cache Valley since 1952. We still grow everything right here. We still know our customers by name — wholesale accounts we've had for decades, and neighbors who stop by every spring.
We still believe that good plants and honest work are worth more than any marketing gimmick. Rudy would recognize the place. That's the point.
Rudy Wuthrich
1914–1986 · Founder
Rudy was born in Bern, Switzerland on October 4, 1914, and grew up in a farmhouse his family said was 500 years old. As a boy, he raised rabbits, gathered grain from farmers along the roadsides, cut hay with his brother Paul, and swam in the Aare river during the summers. He learned flowers there — a background he'd carry with him to America.
At thirteen, his family emigrated. He didn't want to go — he loved Switzerland, loved soccer, loved the mountains where he'd pick wild strawberries and huckleberries with his father. But he came, learned the language, and built a life.
In 1952, Rudy started the greenhouse on Canyon Road in Logan. With help from his wife, children, and siblings, he established a few greenhouses and built wholesale relationships with companies we still do business with today — over 70 years later.
"I had a what I'd call really a beautiful childhood. I enjoyed my life. I enjoyed every day that I lived out there."
— Rudy Wuthrich, recorded December 1970
The Family Today
Rudy passed away in March 1986, but what he built has only grown. Those few original greenhouses are now more than 40, and we serve garden centers, grocery stores, and landscapers across Utah, Idaho, Wyoming, Montana, and Nevada.
Second Generation
Jerry & John Wuthrich
Rudy's sons took over operations and grew the business into what it is today. Jerry continues to oversee the process.
Third Generation
Amy, Kevin, Justin & Steven
The grandkids. Kevin and Justin run day-to-day operations. The whole family still pitches in — that hasn't changed.
Fourth Generation
The Next Chapter
The great-grandkids are growing up around the greenhouses — watering, tagging, learning the rhythms of the seasons. They're part of the work now, and someday, potentially more generations to come.
What We're Known For
Beautiful geraniums. Carefully crafted hanging baskets. One of the largest selections of Proven Winner plants you'll find. Vegetable starts, perennials, ornamental grasses — we grow it all right here in Logan, and we've been doing it long enough to know what thrives in this climate.
The public is always welcome to shop our greenhouses directly. A lot of folks have made it a tradition.
